Dad and I took Mom and Sarah to the airport this morning. It was sad :(
I'm not going to go into details, because I really am happy for her... we all are... it's just sad to move away. I suppose we all knew the time would come when Sarah and I wouldn't live feet away from each other and see each other every day. As strange as it sounds, it just kind of crept up on us. It took 25 years and 4 months to creep, but it came today.
I get to see her next week in New York for a day on my way to Israel, and we have quite the travel schedule lined up to see each other throughout the year. I suppose it'll settle in, and things will get a little eaiser and not quite as sad.... It may just take some time.

Wendall, the little bear I got her to take with her. It's a long story, but his shirt that I made him has to do with silly nicknames we have for each other

My shower
You can't have a shower without an umbrella... of course!
The gracious hosts of my shower were kind enough to put it all together prior to the big move. Sarah and I both really wanted both of us to be there, and with our travel schedule in the upcoming months, it's questionable when we would be able to all get together.
Even without the gifts (which were lovely!), just having everyone get together to celebrate was a lot of fun. We played some games (which were hard!), had some great food, opened gifts, and ate fabulous dessert. Overall, it was a really great afternoon, and the perfect send off. We got all the plates we registered for, a fondue pot, a crock pot, cook books, baking materials, storage containers, and a lot more! People all brought their favorite recipes too, so I'll have something fun to cook.
The adorable centerpieces, made out of my dishes
The drink table- Sangria, iced tea, and punch
My favorite food - the giant fruit salad
The whole group
The guest of honor (me!) with the maid of honor
Me with my mom, and two of the women in my life that I love nearly as much as my own family- I'm so lucky to have them... thanks for hosting!

Lasts
We've been having a lot of "lasts" the past few weeks. We had about two weeks of Sister Week, where we ate all of our favorite meals and at all our favorite restaurants. (Moes, Sumo Sabi, and Mellow Mushroom were tops on our list!)
This weekend we had a few more lasts- our last trip to St. George Island on Saturday, and my bridal shower on Sunday. The gracious hosts were kind enough to set up the shower so we could do it before we both move- it was such perfect timing.
The weather was PERFECT on Saturday. We left for the beach early, and got there just before noon. My boss lent us his beach house for the day, which was a great. It gave us the opportunity to use clean showers and bathrooms, and have a great porch to eat our lunch on.

Our wonderful home
Two and a half years ago, Sarah and I took a huge step- we bought a house. Living with Mom and Dad for nearly a year after college allowed us to afford to buy the perfect house. While scary, signing away our money and livelihood to the bank for the next 30 years, it was a great decision. We've lived there since March of 2005. Thankfully, we found some nice young ladies to rent from us, so we're not worried about selling it right now!

It's Exciting
I'm excited- I really am. Moving to New York City has always been something Sarah wanted to do, and I'm so proud of her for getting a cool job, a great apartment, and actually going through with it. As for me, moving to Miami has never been a dream of mine, but being with someone like Jon is, so for that reason, I'm happy.
I'm using this blog to keep up with all the changes. Sarah leaves next Wednesday, I'm leaving the next Friday. It'll be interesting to see what happens when you take a set of twins who have never been a part from each other for more than 10 days, and separate them. Thousands of miles away, in two of the biggest cities in the country.
